World Oral Health Day World Oral Health Day WOHD is a farreaching global oral health campaign It is a platform for the public oral health community and policymakers to help reduce the overall oral disease burden WOHD is celebrated on 20 March every year the day was first declared by FDI in 2007 and first officially celebrated in 2013 It is the culmination of a yearlong campaign dedicated to raising global awareness on the prevention and control of oral diseases It is an international day to promote good oral health for everyone and empower individuals to maintain a healthy mouth at all ages Why celebrate World Oral Health Day Most people will suffer from an oral condition in their lifetimes Many of these conditions can be avoided with increased awareness support and funding for prevention detection and treatment programmes which is what World Oral Health Day is all about The Say Ahh theme is a threeyear campaign launched in 2018 starting with Think Mouth Think Health as the first subtheme It empowers you to keep a healthy mouth and helps you maintain your general health and wellbeing A healthy mouth and a healthy body go hand in hand Maintaining a healthy mouth is crucial to keeping it functioning correctly and for maintaining overall health and quality of life The theme focuses on four main messages 1 Oral health is much more than a nice smile 2 Oral health and general health have a twoway relationship 3 The mouth cannot be isolated from the rest of the body 4 Most oral diseases share common risk factors with other diseases WOHD2019 movement is being celebrated since March 15 in different places around Ethiopia And these are some pictures from yesterday and today At primary schools in Addis giving oral health education Collaborating with Unilever and EDPA EDSASanteEDSA JU also started celebrating world oral health day in JUSH hospital prison schools and in Jimma university compound by giving awareness blood donation and free dental service Africa Medical Col
